14:00 - 15:00 - "How bringing life to lessons brings lessons to life!" by Matthew ElmanTeenage learners need to see how their lessons relate to the real world in order to stay motivated. Luckily, bringing real-world content into lessons is an outstanding way of promoting interaction, incorporating life skills and helping students progress towards their exam goals. In this session we’ll look at practical ways that you can incorporate real-world topics and activities into lessons, with examples from the new edition of Prepare. |

Wednesday, 24 March - Cambridge Teens Day |
14:00 - 15:00 - "Technology in Classroom" by Dr. Hisham AlSaghbiniWe live in a time of never-before access to information was seen so important for learning. This means educators must compete with a wide-ranging array of media for the finite attention of their students’ minds from tablets to the intents to the amazing technology that can be incorporated in the learning journey. With so many options, teachers need to be very careful to ensure the materials they are presenting are fit for purpose, reliable and appealing to students. This presentation looks at some of these tools. It highlights the main tools that Cambridge provides and an assessment of the best approaches to digital learning and assessment. |
16:00 - 17:00 - "Taking teenage learners seriously" by Herbert PuchtaAs teachers of teenagers, we frequently find ourselves in challenging classroom situations. In this webinar we will look at ways of engaging with our students in a dialogue-based classroom interaction in which we show we are treating our students with respect, as individuals with their own thoughts, feelings and capabilities. Herbert will be using examples from his new course, Think, to demonstrate how you can successfully encourage your learners to think more deeply, by asking the right questions and revealing a genuine interest in what they have to say. And last but not least, we will also discuss the importance of humour in the ELT classroom, as taking students seriously does not mean we should never laugh with them. Quite the contrary! |
Thursday, 25 March - Cambridge Young Learners Day |
14:00 - 15:00 - "The Importance of Stories in Teaching Young Learners" by Herbert PuchtaWith young learners, stories work magic. The story, then, is not an external means of conveying language – it is more of a journey that the child participates in by identifying with the protagonists, worrying about their survival, laughing in situations that provide relief, and celebrating their successes – and making meaning of language in a pleasing and natural way. In this webinar, Herbert will give practical tips on the methodology of using stories in the young learners classroom so the children's learning will be swifter, easier and more fun. |
16:00 - 17:00 - "Practical tips to introduce and revise vocabulary at Pre A1 & A1 Levels online and offline" by Sarah EllisPreparation for Pre-A1 Starters & A1 Movers tests provides lots of opportunities to support the development of vocabulary particularly because many parts of the tests are picture based. This session will look at ideas and activities to develop vocabulary, using pictures, flashcards and engaging activities to make vocabulary learning fun and memorable. |
